In the "should have known better" department

Leo got a "baby einstein" video for Christmas from an uncle. He asked to watch it this morning, so I put it on, thinking it would keep him out of trouble while we did school work. He watched for about a minute, and is currently back at work removing all the q tips from the box in the cabinet below my bathroom sink, while four school age children have abandoned lessons and sit slack jawed in front of a screen rotating pretty colors.

LOL! What is it about these videos??--my older ones are mesmerized in the same way while the baby has absolutely no interest! Too funny.

Hey, MA, at least it wasn't hot pink Wet'n'Wild nail polish that he managed to unscrew the lid on and then proceeded to stand in the middle of your living room and test the principal of centripetal force with it...

Babies are uninterested, but how about plants? The latest issue of The New Yorker's "Talk of the Town" features a philosopher (real name: Jon Keats) who shows TV to plants since they are unable to travel. "I wanted to bring that whole specific set of color experiences to plants, which would otherwise never be able to get to Italy."

(Hi, I'm a fellow Pton grad who was sent to your blog by a friend a while ago, and this is my first comment! Thanks for your great stories!)

J.,
Welcome! I am always thrilled to have a reader who has time to read publications like the _New Yorker_ and then post tidbits for those of us whose time is - uh, more limited. MA, we have the same 2-year old son. That experience happened within minutes of me reading about the Q-tips. See, don't Q-tips seem benign now? Doin' what I can
