haha! I live overseas in a country that does not have Starbucks. However, we just returned from a quick trip to Thailand and they definitely have Starbucks there, so we thoroughly enjoyed ourselves - drinking two or three Toffee Nut Lattes a day! (skim milk, no whip, please.) We ran them out of Toffee Nut syrup before we left - haha!

B-Mama, this post is very timely since ET and I just had a conversation about Starbucks last night...I was explaining to him how a cup of Starbucks is a small luxury that can really help to get me through the day!
Shannon and Kat, thanks for helping me feel a little more normal in my 'bucks fetish. I do try to keep it at bay as much as possible, but when I have gift cards beckoning, it's hard to rationalize not using them! :) Their Cafe Americanos are such a treat for me--not only do I enjoy the brew, but also the warmth and association I have of meeting up with friends for coffee, etc. Sometimes that's all I need! :)
Have to admit, I've never gotten the Starbucks urge. Oh, we've tried it, but their basic roast is too roasted for us, so the only ones we like are just full of add-ins (especially sugar and cream)! We've taken to getting good whole-bean coffee at Trader Joe's and brewing at home. Much cheaper (even with quality beans and a flavored "creamer"). But that's just our taste! I don't begrudge anyone the little luxuries that get them through their day! It's a small price in the big picture!
Elizabeth M, around here we also LOVE experimenting with Trader Joe's excellent beans and nice add ins (cream, raw sugar, good good good). It still feels like a treat when the ingredients are good. But oh yes there are some days when a cup of coffee shop coffee can turn things totally around! When that's all it takes, it's undoubtedly $3 well spent!!!
You ladies talking about Trader Joe's make me miss this gem of a store so much! As far as I know, TJ's hasn't made its way to Texas yet, but we can always hope! I used to get their low-acid french roast all the time, but now I have to settle for more expensive, less reliable coffee instead. Oh well!

Very few things are more pretentious than a $6 cup of coffee.
A $6 venti mocha frappuccino, on the other hand....
