It's a Girl

And everything on the ultrasound looked great! We are obviously overjoyed. This is my first ever anatomy scan where the doc said everything looked "normal" and there was no need to return for another scan. We are completely boring, and with pregnancy, boring is a fantastic thing to be. With every other baby, even my healthy 3, we had to return for at least one small thing. But not this time. Unless my midwife sees a problem, I hopefully can go the rest of the pregnancy without another ultrasound. Praise God for such wonderful news. Thank you all for your prayers!

Red, what wonderful news... no happier news on earth than this kind. Your daughter G's prayer requests for the gender of the baby are always answered so far, aren't they? That's SO great!! You deserve a sweet, sweet baby girl.

You are all so sweet, thank you! And yes, Gianna has been praying for a little sister since Augustine's birth in January of 08' I was feeling very confident that this would be a girl--because I just couldn't believe that God would say no to her request. She is VERY excited to say the least. Gianna just kept telling me that if God gave her a another brother, she would have 3 brothers, and that would be just ridiculous! It was very cute. And, by the way, she has already let me know that she would like another brother next.

Anyway, we are feeling very blessed, and I'm hoping this baby will have a slightly better disposition that our last baby ;-) JM, I think you and I were both "blessed" with very tough babies on #2 (for you) and #3 (for me). Maybe I'll get as lucky as you and have my next be super sweet like your baby girl! If not, I'll just have to settle for a really cute head of curls that I am convinced belong only to Augustine because of his difficult nature ;-)

OK Red, but I have permanent dibs on the blog alias "Angelina" for my sweetest kiss of heaven baby girl. God has been so, so good to me in giving her to me... I had no idea.

Maybe one of the many privileges God sometimes bestows on the oldest child is whispering to him/her the gender of the next baby before anyone else knows.

Yeah!! Awesome, awesome news! On the subject of kids prayers being answered...our 3 year old, Dash, has taken it upon himself to pray for your family every day. I almost tear up every time. I am so sure that Our Lord hears the pleas and prayers of our children with their simple, pure, hearts!

Apparently it's not so ridiculous to have 3 brothers as long as you at least have one sister. :-)

I'm so glad to hear that everything is going so smoothly now. I hope that having a girl also means that she'll come in under 12 pounds.

I'm so happy to hear your good news - I just had my second girl and it's been so exciting. I didn't realize how much I wanted to get back to those girly clothes until I had her!

When the going gets tough, you can remind G that holly and mary have 4 brothers!

As for what the oldest child knows, when Peter was two we told him that we were going to have our third baby -- we said "like Holly" -- he said "no, like two hollys!" Months later we learned that there were, in fact, two babies in there!
