Well folks, my latest German ultrasound revealed all the makin's of a new male to join our family in October. I know that this blog is no place to feel publicly anxious about the prospect of mothering 2 boys who are just 22 months apart, but here I am, I am anxious about the prospect of mothering 2 boys who are just 22 months apart. Nonetheless, he is healthy as can be floating around in there - so we are grateful. Thanks to everyone for the prayers. Have a blessed Ascension Sunday.

Congrats!
And if you can't feel publicly anxious about mothering 2 boys close together on a blog devoted to the challenges and joys of the domestic church...where can you? :)
Many blessings to you, from a Mom of 3 boys. You can do it, it will be awesome and completely frustrating all at the same time! :)
Congrats AWOL! So glad your little one is healthy!!!! Praise God for that.
My boys are 23 months apart, and I think it is a great dynamic. They are now wrestling with one another, and I can just see how awesome it will be for them to have each other as brothers. For a little boy, a brother is a great thing, and a brother close in age is even better. It is funny that you were anxious about a boy, because when I was in your shoes (on my last pregnancy), I was desperately hoping for a boy so that Charlie could have a brother close in age. Maybe this was because Charlie was such a good baby?
And besides, I have heard that girls 4 years is a terrible spread --so you are in the clear on that!
I think this is the perfect venue to air your anxieties! And as with any other part of parenthood, you'll have time to grow into it. They won't be crazy and rough-housing over night, it'll gradually evolve and by the time it does, you'll just think it's completely natural.
You'll do great! Congratulations!
For what it's worth, my boys are 22 months apart, and I don't think you can get a much better gap.
Congratulations, AWOL. I'd be nervous too : ) but at least we can be sure that God gives each family the gender order and age gap that's perfect for that particular family. So thrilled to hear that he's happy and healthy in there! You grow them well, AWOL.
I love the title of your post!
We don't have Ascension Sunday in New Jersey. We have an equally artificial but not as irrational creation called the "Seventh Sunday of Easter".
AWOL, Congratulations. I have four kids: 3 boys and 1 girl. The last two boys are 19 months apart. I was quite nervous about the spacing but it has been such a blessing to have two boys so close together. They are so incredibly different and the littlest one has really made the next one up into a big brother. I really do believe that a boy benefits tremendously from a close brother. What an adventure you are on!
AWOL, I'm afraid that B-Mama and I have scared you with tales of crazy little boys (and you don't know the half of it :-)!
But seriously, our problems stem from the fact that they love each other so much they cannot STAND to be apart. Once they mature a bit more, it will be just awesome. And yours will be 6 months further apart than ours, and that is a huge deal, too.
Congrats on your sweet little boy!!
Congratulations! I agree with everything that has been said above!
Very exciting, AWOL!
Very exciting, AWOL!
AWOL, this is fantastic news and we are so thrilled to hear of your sweet baby boy, growing and thriving! As for two boys 22 mos apart, don't forget they have a precocious older sister hen who will keep them in line. I will pray for all of you in preparation! It will be wonderful, no doubt!!
I'm mothering two boys (who have two sisters) who are just 11 months apart and they are the best of friends! You'll do great! Congratulations!
