To Sigg Fans...

We have been Sigg fans for awhile. My kids carry around their bottles like security blankets and we don't leave home without them (see wagon cupholders). If they are hurt or sad they sob, "I want my water bottle." When Jack-Jack left his when out with his Grandma, we paid to have another yellow one shipped from Canada, the only one left in North America. Which is why I was so sad to see that the liners contain BPA, precisely what we were aiming to avoid. There is a voluntary exchange program until the end of October. For us returning their water bottles will be like taking away a cherished blankie or teddy bear. I'm not sure if it's better for them to ingest chemicals or to have their hearts broken!

Oh no!! Thanks for the info about the voluntary exchange.

This is so disappointing on so many levels. We too love our Sigg bottles. Please post what you decide on as a suitable replacement. If Sigg is no good I don't know what is.

We use the Klean Kanteen's. They are 100% stainless steel and there is no gold lining inside like the Sigg bottles. You can get different tops for the Klean Kanteens as well. The price is comparable.
Good Luck!

Jennifer,

We use Kleen Kanteens, too. I love them and think they are easier to clean, but the boys formed their attachments to their decorated Siggs. Even the baby loves his. Sigh.

Booo! I'm so, so disappointed.

Wegmans sent a recall notice saying that it was trace amounts of BPA, and not harmful, but that the NEW sigg bottles are BPA free, and that the exchange is not for safety, but because new testing has found that they were not what were advertised. I think that new Sigg bottles would be just fine, but frankly I am not going to bother to replace mine.

Holly takes hers to bed every night.

We use BPA free plastic Nalgene bottles for sports bottles for the big kids, and I use BPA free plastic "born free" sippy cups and bottles as well.

Here is some unrelated but exciting news that you all will appreciate -- The TRADER JOES in my neighborhood opens tomorrow! I think I am going to go over and celebrate the grand opening, I am that excited!

BTW, i love that the picture shows Siggs and Keenes -- you are officially crunchy!

Oh! I wish we had Trader Joe's in TX! I'm sure they'll have tons of samples for the opening...I say make a meal of it!

I can mail you some of our Disney sippy cups with a number 7 on the bottom if you want to see how you like them : )

Kidding... but MaryAlice, great news about Trader Joes. Not everything is a bargain, but many things are, once you get in your groove and the savings start to add up you and Mr. MaryAlice should go on a date compliments of Trader Joe.

If it helps, TM, Kleen Kanteen now has some bottles with designs--I think I've seen them through LL Bean, and you could even have the boys' names put on them...

Good luck!
