Happy Feast of St. Teresa of Avila!

St. Teresa, pray for us.

By nature, impulsive, easily-distracted, passionate, and strong-willed...

She became, by her cooperation with God's grace, by her devotion to Jesus, and by the fire of the Holy Spirit...

Nun, mystic, reformer, doctor of the Church, mental prayer expert, and saint.
Dearest St. Teresa, pray for us!

* The sculpture pictured is Bernini's The Ecstacy of St. Teresa located in Santa Maria della Vittoria church in Rome. Stop in and linger and expect a profound conversion of heart.

There is a lovely St. Teresa coloring page at http://tiredtwang.blogspot.com/
Maybe Bella would like it?

Also agree, JM! Beautiful, moving sculpture! At least once a week I find myself drifting back to Rome...

Thank you for this post, JM! I have my ultrasound appt this morning, and take great comfort in knowing that it is St. Teresa's Feast Day. She is one of the first saints that I was introduced to as a child, and has made a lasting impression on me. St. Teresa, pray for us!

The highlight of my day today will be Mass at the Carmelite Chapel. I can't wait. I love St. Teresa. She's my all time fav saint.

Kat, thinking of you, please give us a report when you can.

Tex, I still have the beautiful Ecstacy of St. Teresa postcard from you in a special place. Thanks for the coloring page link, Quiettime Chatterbox, I mean Bella, is going to work on it now.

JMB, hope the Carmelite Mass is wonderful. Our parish Mass was good too this morning, and the kids were remarkably serene. That in itself is proof of St. Teresa's intercession. She's my all-time favorite saint too, my confirmation saint, God has directed me to her at so many key points. Oh to meet her in heaven someday!

My husband was telling me this morning that his colleagues in the history department even love her as a "closet feminist" from the Church of the Reformation and Counter Reformation. Ha! I'll have to chew on that one for a while.

Just a quick update...The ultrasound went well today, everything looks healthy and the baby is even measuring about 5 days ahead of schedule - 21 weeks, 5 days! Thanks for all of your prayers!
