Very cool! It will be interesting to see if there is a similar surge all over the country, or if the wave of interest in priestly vocations will be mainly on the East coast. Just out of curiosity, do any of your parishes have something called the "Elijah Cup", where one family each week takes home the Cup and commits to praying for vocations every evening? I think it's a great idea, the archdiocese of Atlanta does it, but I don't think we do it here in the Chicago area...
I've heard of that before, but haven't seen it in any of the parishes here in Indiana. We'll have to keep an eye out for it out east... We have been trying to include a "Hail Mary" with our dinner prayer for the intention of vocations. With boys, we're feeling great responsibility!! :)
We're getting ready to move to Springfield, IL (husband's job) and a couple of weekends ago we were there looking for houses and attended a parish where some of the prospective houses are located. They had something similar. I honestly don't remember if they called it an "Elijah cup" or if it was something different, but they had two families, at the end of mass, take something (again I don't remember what exactly) one was to pray for increased vocations and one was to pray to the Blessed Virgin Mary. I had not seen this before but was very impressed.
