McCain chooses Palin

I've written about her before, here.

A mother of 5 children, pro-life, and pro-family, she seems to be everything Nancy Pelosi isn't. But how can you be the vice-president of the US with a baby in tow?

I'd love to hear your thoughts...

Actually...Nancy Pelosi is also the mother of 5 children. She waited until they were grown to run for office. So it will definitely be interesting/inspiring to see how Ms. Palin does it!

I'm sure she will (or already has) plenty of help with the baby. I agree it will be interesting to see how she does it, but it might not be inspiring. In my view, it's impossible to give 100% to being VP and 100% to being mama. Something's gotta give.

I think McCain took a big risk here, we don't know how well Palin will do in the national spotlight. That being said, the more I learn the more excited I get about Palin. I just got off the phone with MaryAlice, and she seems to share my excitement. We both decided that what we really need is a bunch of Catholic mothers running the country!

I don't know how she'll juggle being a mom and a VP, but I've seen her interviewed and she is a very impressive woman with a lot to say. She is eloquent and believable - I think that she is a great choice for VP!!

Palin is also a member of Feminists for Life

She has a husband, who has taken over childcare duties, from what I have read. Her other children are also older and would be a big help. Here's where I got that info:

If she's able to balance a career and family then more power to her. It can be tough for sure, but with support from family, it would certainly be doable.

Her personal story is certainly an inspiration, though! God bless her!

I was pleasantly surprised and very excited to see this nomination!! The ticket sounds much better to me now!! I think her hubby is a Mr. Mom and I think a strong lady like her will be able to find a balance....she could defintely be a huge asset to the country. Here is what I found about the feminist comment "Palin was a member of Feminists for Life of America, a leading pro-woman, pro-life organization that has championed reducing abortions by helping pregnant and parenting students with financial and other resources." -from lifenews.com

I'm not sure how she does it (I guess after 4 previous children her husband is highly competent to play Mr. Mom), but I already ordered a "Strong Women Vote Palin - McCain" onesie for my baby girl off of CafePress! :-)

P.S. How did St. Elizabeth Anne Seton found a religious order and get the Catholic school system started in the U.S. while being a SINGLE mom? It takes a special kind of heroism, but God obviously calls some women to that and gives them the extraordinary strength to do it.

Two words before I get my Saturday bagels at Einsteins here in Tampa:

FORGET IT.....

I am also appalled that with y'all's education you weren't watching the news yesterday waiting for him to announce her.

Regarding that not being able to have a career and raise kids.. give me a break. You get up in the morning, smile at your degree and stop playing God and let God be God and GO TO WORK

But then remember McCain has a trophy wife... take it from there.

Being Vice President is probably easier on a working mom than being Governor (especially of a state as large as Alaska, the small population notwithstanding). She'll have fewer responsibilities and more staff - it's basically like being the understudy for the President.

Plus, I'm pretty sure she'll be the first homeschooler in Number One Observatory Circle.
