It is hot in Texas, so we are taking refuge at our neighborhood pool quite often. Our 3 and 2 year old splash away the heat while the little guy rides on mommy, as per usual.
I have found myself tucking the sling fabric in odd places and trying to stay in shallow enough water so that the sling can stay dry for use later in the day (the ergo doesn't let him reach to the water). But little Incredibaby wants at that water to do some serious splashing, so I usually end up taking him out and holding him meaning my hands are no longer free to tend to all sorts of water calamaties, like capsized boats, sunken rings and getting that really cool june bug out of the pool filter (yuck).
Which is why I started to get giddy when I got an email with the TaylorMade Water Sling. A water sling? Brilliant! Oh, and my birthday's coming up, right? Maybe a belated Mother's Day gift?

After I had my 2nd, I felt that this was a baby item that was lacking in the market...
I think it's a brilliant idea and can really free Moms who need to take multiple little ones to the pool.
The other thing you can do is buy a cheap-o walmart type front carrier specifically for the pool, but my suspicion is that it would sop up too much water and you'd end up having to wash and/or dry it after every visit to the pool.
Go for it, and let us all know how it works out! Just the fact of buying it to completely sacrifice yourself for the needs of your children... ;)
When I saw this photo, I immediately thought, am I supposed to know this person?
Anyway, I think this a great idea! If you are taking the kids to the pool everyday, you definitely need this ;-)
I love this! I also really want a fleece wrap for winter coziness!
OK, I have a confession. I had this set to auto-post earlier in the week, but bumped it because other builders had way more important things to say.
I did buy the water sling.
And I love it!
I've used it twice at the pool already...it is exactly what I needed! Incredibaby is safe and secure and splashing and I have two hands free. Plus he weighs NOTHING in the water. It is really the life floating around the pool.
When I tried it on dry, the material slipped through the rings a little, but by twisting the material under the ring a bit, I could get it to hold. And in the water it was no problem at all. I can throw it in on the second rinse of the cloth diapers in the washing machine to rinse the chlorine out like the maker suggests and it air dries super quickly. Just bliss. We may make it through the Texas heat this summer!
Tex, glad to hear the happy ending! Happy splashing to you and Incredibabe.
Cloth diapers? ;-) When did you make the switch?
By the way, thanks for the link to this website, they have lots of other momma/baby needs that I thought were not yet invented -- including a kids ergo!
MaryAlice, a kid's ergo is a "need"? Please elaborate. Are you wearing your children or are your children wearing your babies?
Yes, I am on board the cloth diaper band wagon, though Mr. I is still adjusting. Since I just stopped pumping, I felt that this was a good time to make the switch coupled with Jack-Jack's persistent diaper rash. All is going well so far! Red...do you put your covers in the dryer or air-dry to save the elastic?
MA, I LOVE this store! Not a huge shopper/gift giver or collector of things in general, but it is my favorite place to go. They do have free shipping over a certain price.
Okay, Kids Ergo (for dolls) is not technically a "need" but I do have one very nurturing girl who would love to have this. There are a few more personal items that I have picked out, however, nursing support items.
MaryAlice, I hope you know I was TOTALLY joking around about the "need" thing, sorry that wasn't clear... my 4 year old girl uses the newborn attachment for our baby bathtub to rig up a homemade Bjorn to wear everything from baby dolls to stuffed sea lions. Maybe by the time #4 comes along she'll be big enough to wear the newborn. I could use a baby-wearing beast of burden.
