Pope Benedict's US Visit

The USCCB has a great website devoted to the Holy Father's visit to the United States next week. There is a "Teaching Resources" section that has lesson plan ideas by grade. Just in case anyone is interested! Dash always gets so excited to see the Pope on TV.
There is also a new blog called First Heralds to check out about teaching toddlers about the Catholic faith.

Is anyone going? We might actually drive up to New York next weekend just to see if we can catch a glimpse of him. My son always gets excited to see the Pope as well. He just says, "That's the Pope!" regardless of which Pope it is.

Thanks so much, Texas Mommy, for posting the links to lesson plans for kids. Are you using any of these? I think that the K-2 lesson plan is even appropriate for Pre-K kiddos, so I'm going to give it a try.
I wish that we could go to see Pope Benedict! I have such a fondness for him, I think partly because he reminds me of my German grandmother - they look alike, have similar mannerisms, the same gentle smile - I just light up every time I see an image of him or hear him speaking. I did meet him when he was Cardinal Ratzinger, and was very impressed with his calm, loving presence, even as he spoke with much conviction and intelligence. What a wonderful gift he is to our Church! Hopefully we will be able to make a family pilgrimage to Rome at some point so that our children can see him in "real life"!
