Another Believer

JM has oft spoken of its laurels, but not until last night did I become a believer in the beloved SwaddleMe blanket by Kiddopotamus.  Gracious me, it was amazing!!

Our Baby J (7 weeks today) has been sleeping an average of 2-3 hour stretches at night, leaving his mother very tired and quite grumpy!   In general he wasn't acting very hungry upon waking and seemed to be getting plenty to eat throughout the day (weighing a stoutly 11.5 lbs. at 5 weeks!)  It was obvious to me that something else was to blame for his restlessness...

So last evening I was scrambling to try everything to calm him and encourage him to fall asleep.  After grabbing The Baby Whisperer by Tracey Hogg (one of my fave books) in a moment of desperation, I started to read about J possibly being a more sensitive, "Touchy" baby, who might flourish with swaddling.  *Enter SwaddleMe blanket from stage right.*  I had avoided it in the past because the swaddling seemed to anger J, who appeared to like having his hands by his face.  As I said, though, I was desperate, so out came the SwaddleMe, in went the pacifier, and out-like-a-light went Baby J.  Hallelujah!

Not only that, but he first slept a 6-hour stretch (7:30pm-1:30am) followed by another 4 (2-6am) and now has already gone back to sleep for his morning nap!  To say I'm a believer in SwaddleMe is an understatement!!!  Let's just hope this isn't a fluke!

Yay! G-Boo seemed to also love his hands out of the swaddle and near his face, so we kind of abandoned swaddling his arms for a week or so, but could tell that he really needed to be swaddled to stay asleep. So, we went back to tucking his arms at his sides and are firm believers in the swaddleme wrap!! Love it!

I've heard so much about this product that I'm going to have to have a fifth baby just to try it!!!

I'm going to have to get one of these for the next baby. Do they make a supersize version? My newborns are huge!

Get a "Miracle Blanket" if you have big babies. It's larger and stronger. My babies would always wiggle their arms under the SwaddleMe's velcro straps and push the straps up around their neck, creating a noose-like mess. Yikes! The Miracle Blanket is a little more difficult to get the baby wrapped up in (until you learn the skill), but then it is much safer and stronger.

Yes! Music to the ears to hear another sweet SwaddleMe success story.

5 month old Angelina just graduated from her size large SwaddleMe this weekend when she was so determined to roll over during her sleep (another sleep disruptive issue in itself!) that the SwaddleMe was doing more harm than good.

I LOVE THIS PRODUCT. Thank you Tex and all the other blog commenters who recommended it many moons ago.

Red--get the miracle blanket for you big babes! My little guys outgrew the small size swaddle me pretty quickly and they are about half the size of your babies. We use both types, but when they get really strong, they can wiggle out of the swaddle me, whereas we have never had a breakout of the miracle blanket.

On a related note, I use my daughter's pacifier a lot to comfort and soothe her. She uses it occassionally during the day, but definitely at naps and during bedtime. Today is her first birthday and I want to "wean" her from the pacifier. I have realized the pacifier is a double-edged sword. Any tips on how others did it would be great! Thank you!
